The San Donato in Polverosa Church in Florence

The San Donato in Polverosa Church, originally called San Donato a Torri, was part of a large and important monastery, inhabited by Augustinian Portuenses over time. From this church after a ceremony of great solemnity, started the third expedition crusade. It was the February 2, 1188. Then came the humiliated and in 1322 the structure passed to the nuns of the monastery of Saint Mary Magdalen delle Convertite in Borgo Pinti. Powerful, enveloping, dark, dark is a Romanesque church that has recovered, after major restoration, its old flavor. Among the works to be seen the Madonna con Bambino, the face of Christ, the ascent to Calvary and the crucifixion.
